How To Get Rid Of Middle Aged Fat

If you want to know how to get rid of middle aged fat you need to why it’s there in the first place. As you approach middle age your metabolism slows down and you don’t need to eat as many calories as you did when you were younger.

As you get passed the age of about 40 your metabolism slows down by 5% every 10 years. This may not seem much but it does mean that if you aren’t careful you could start piling the pounds on as you near mid 40s and by the time you are in your 50s you could have accumulated a large amount of belly fat.

Middle aged fat can be a result of muscle loss. You may become less active as you get older and this means that you aren’t building new muscle.Muscles need to burn calories to maintain them and so this helps with weight loss and keeping a slim figure.

If you lead a sedentary lifestyle and you want to know how to get rid of middle aged fat you need to take up resistance training. You don’t need to join a gym but you could do some sit ups or press ups to create resistance.

Brisk walking for 30 minutes a day will get oxygen into your cells and boost metabolism. If you find the idea of that boring you could meet up with a friend and take a walk through the park, or get yourself a dog

If you are a woman and want to know how to get rid of middle aged fat try replacing meat especially red meat which is high in fat and cholesterol to soy base products.

These are high in protein but low in fat. I am vegetarian and frequently buy soy based sausages or mince. You can create some very healthy and delicious meals with them.

Soy can help menopausal women alleviate hot flushes which are a very common symptom of the menopause, it can also reduce the risk of breast cancer. Try miso soup, tofu and soy milk.

Soy is not only good for getting rid of middle aged fat but it’s highly nutritious containing fibre, essential vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. This will keep you feeling satisfied for longer than if you eat processed foods.
