Boost Your Weight Loss With a List Of Negative Calorie Foods

Negative calorie foods are simply foods that are so low in calories that it takes more energy to burn them than they contain which boosts the metabolism.

Foods with negative calories include cold water as it takes energy to bring it up to blood temperature. Every time you drink a glass of cold water you burn a few calories and this helps you to lose weight. Water also helps you to feel full and can often satisfy hunger pangs.

There are very few foods that have a negative calories affect and most of the foods listed here don’t really use more calories than they add and if they do the affect is negligible until you realise that your body uses energy just to keep alive and breathing. Even if you are just sitting on the sofa watching tv you are still burning calories!

A stick of celery won’t give you enough energy to both digest it and keep you alive and this is why it’s called a negative calorie food. It would be dangerous to only eat such foods and nothing else as you would quickly develop nutritional deficiencies and your body would start burning calories from muscles resulting in debility and wasting.

A healthy way to use a negative calorie diet is to use it as a fasting or detox. Only do this for a short period of time of between one to three days and seek medical advice if you are unsure. You must be fit and healthy to fast.

You should consider the following points if you are to go on a negative calorie diet. Don’t eat large amounts of one type of food especially fruits as they may contain substances that could be damaging if eaten in excess.

For example fruits such as grapefruit and pineapple contain acid which in large quantities could damage the stomach lining. Other foods could overwork the liver or cause diarrhoea.

The best idea is to plan four or five salad meals a day and not overeat on any one food. Eat slowly and spend time chewing your food. You will burn more calories and feel more satisfied. Eat as many of the foods raw as possible as foods lose their nutritional content when cooked, Grate foods like carrots and beetroot as they will be more satisfying and easier to eat.

It’s best to do the diet when you are on your own without any commitments such as work or social events. This is because you may experience some side effects such as tiredness, headaches, irritability and diarrhoea. If your symptoms become very severe stop the diet immediately and seek medical advice.

After you have finished your detox gradually introduce your normal foods back into your diet again.
